I have had a few operations in the last two years so am not coming into this without some experience. Mr Hewes took the time to explain the surgical options and the possible outcomes of each that will enable me to make the decision on which option to choose. At this stage I am happy with where I am with the process and am looking at moving on with this life changing surgery with a positive outlook together with some informed caution.

Mr Hewes is a great surgeon, my life was in his hands during my operation. I spoke with him before my surgery and also the day after surgery. Each time I have spoken with Mr Hewes I have been listened to, felt respected and treated as an individual.

I had an appointment today with Mr James Hewes (consultant surgeon) - in respect of possible weight loss surgery. I am at the start of the surgery process which may last around 6 months. Mr Hewes was polite, courteous and business -like and listened to the questions I raised regarding the possible procedure and the process that may eventually take me to the operation. I appreciated the explanation of why certain types of weight loss surgery may not be suitable for me. The risks of surgery were also clearly explained. The next 6 months or so will be interesting both in terms of my hoped for weight loss (on own efforts) and how Mr Hewes and his team perform. They've made a good start. William Rhodes

I like the way I was not rushed by the doctor and he was happy to listen to anything I wanted to say and look like he was taking on board everything I said he went over the treatment I will be receiving a couple of times and able to give me a time scale . He went through the pros and cons and asked my opionions on what I thought would be the best route to go by and see if we both agree on a plan of action to move forward I was very impressed with Mr james hewes his bedside manor is one of the best I've had in a very long time the only critatism I have is waiting time a 70 min delay other than that I'm happy .

Doctor was very good. Allowed full exchange of issues and concerns. Explained the anatomy and physiology well. Left feeling very confident even though difficult to make a decision about the outcome - i.e. whether to proceed with surgery.
